About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Draftsperson to join our engineering team in O'Connor, Western Australia. This is a permanent, full‑time position that focuses on the precision drafting and design of modular, containerised water and wastewater treatment systems. The successful candidate will have an engineering background and will be responsible for turning complex process requirements into build‑ready fabrication packages.
Key Responsibilities
- Piping & Layout Design: Create intricate 3D piping layouts specifically for containerised environments, ensuring all pumps, valves, and filtration components are accessible for maintenance.
- Drafting Deliverables: Generate high-quality 2D schematics, P&IDs, and 3D assembly models. Produce detailed fabrication drawings (isos and spools) for the workshop.
- Offshore Coordination: Serve as a primary technical contact for our remote team.
- Use Tagalog language skills to clarify design intent, resolve drafting clashes, and ensure offshore outputs meet Australian project standards.
- Material Management: Develop and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) within Autodesk Inventor to streamline procurement.
- Design Validation: Apply engineering principles to ensure pipe supports, bracketry, and equipment placements are structurally sound and compliant with Australian standards.
Technical Criteria
- At least 5 years of experience using Autodesk Inventor: Mastery of 3D part modelling, assembly, and sheet metal modules (is required).
- At least 5 years of experience using AutoCAD with high proficiency in 2D layout planning and P&ID development (is required).
- Minimum 3 years in a mechanical drafting role, specifically within the water/wastewater or modular process plant sector.
- Piping Knowledge: Deep understanding of piping materials, pressure ratings, and compact layout design.
- Engineering Background/Experience
Selection Criteria
- Engineering degree or relevant qualification.
- Full professional English; Tagalog (required) for remote team liaison
- Understanding of WA-specific site requirements and Australian piping standards
- Ability to identify "clashes" in the digital model before they reach the workshop floor
- Capable of taking an engineering brief and running with the drafting phase with minimum supervision.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Full Australian Work Rights
- National Police Clearance (within 6 months)
