About the role
This is an expression of interest role for an experienced Operator with a proactive, hands-on attitude to join our team. You will be responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment systems — including but not limited to filtration, reverse osmosis (RO), chlorination, UV disinfection, SAF, SBR, and MBR technologies. This role will be required to work in remote locations.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Shift Supervisor and follow instructions to ensure smooth plant operations
- Comply with all safety procedures and site protocols at all times
- Record daily operational data, including flow rates, pressures, and other key plant metrics
- Replenish treatment plant chemicals as needed to maintain proper process function
- Conduct routine maintenance to ensure treatment systems are operating efficiently and within design specifications
- Perform basic laboratory testing on water/wastewater samples when available
- Assist in the collection of weekly water and wastewater samples
- Support data entry tasks, including treatment plant logs, daily reports, and chemical/stock inventories
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of work areas and equipment
- Carry out any additional reasonable duties in line with operational needs
What we are looking for?
- Minimum 2 years' experience in maintaining and operating reverse osmosis and wastewater treatment plants is required.
- Cert III in Water Operations is highly regarded
- Proven hands-on mechanical aptitude and equipment maintenance experience
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with strong problem-solving and process knowledge
- Experience in troubleshooting and calibrating instrumentation and sensors
- Combine the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings into one dot point
- Accurate and timely documentation in line with company procedures, quality systems, and safety standards
