Centurion Supports Malaysia’s Largest Rig-to-Reef Project
Centurion supplied specialist lifting equipment to help safely remove subsea structures and complete reefing works for Malaysia’s largest artificial reef project, turning retired offshore infrastructure into a thriving new marine habitat.

Off the west coast of Malaysia, a Rig-to-Reef project has transformed retired oil and gas infrastructure into a thriving artificial reef, creating new marine habitats, supporting sustainable fishing, and encouraging local ecotourism.
When our client took on the final offshore scope, they engaged Centurion to supply two winches for a custom over-boarding lifting system. The winches were used to safely remove subsea structures and complete the reefing works, with the structures now forming Malaysia’s largest artificial reef.
This project showcases how responsible decommissioning can deliver long-term environmental and community benefits. Centurion’s role was to ensure the lifting operations were carried out safely, efficiently, and with equipment designed for the job, reflecting our commitment to reliable, fit-for-purpose solutions.
