SAFER DOSING & BETTER WATER QUALITY FOR ORFORD, TASMANIA
WestWater (a Centurion company) is delivering a new chlorine dosing system for the Orford Water Treatment Plant to improve onsite safety, stabilise treatment performance and enhance overall water quality.
WestWater, (a Centurion company), has been engaged to deliver a new chlorine dosing system for a water utility provider at the Orford Water Treatment Plant in Tasmania. The upgrade aims to improve onsite safety and address long-standing water quality issues linked to the region’s raw water supply.
The challenge
The existing chlorine gas system posed handling and delivery risks due to its location. At the same time, naturally occurring dissolved metals in the source water were interrupting the treatment process and affecting water clarity and taste downstream
A safer, more reliable solution
To support the client, WestWater will design and construct a new secondary chlorine dosing system that:
- Reduces risk and improves safety during delivery and handling
- Oxidises dissolved metals to stabilise treatment performance
- Improves water clarity and network reliability
- Supports future regional growth and demand
WestWater has extensive experience delivering chemical dosing systems for utilities across Australia. Construction on the Orford upgrade will begin later this year, with completion expected in February 2026.
