Turning Seawater into Safe Drinking Water – 10km from the coast!
Centurion has delivered a robust Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) system at Mungalalu North Kimberley Airport, supplying 100kL of safe drinking water daily in remote north-west Western Australia. The system pumps seawater 10km inland and operates remotely, supporting both potable supply and critical runway upgrade works.

Centurion Water & Wastewater Solutions has successfully delivered a Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) system at Mungalalu North Kimberley Airport—formerly Mungalalu Truscott Airbase—in remote north-west Western Australia.
Designed to meet the region’s demanding conditions, the system provides up to 100 kilolitres of safe drinking water per day, while also supplying water for runway upgrades, including construction and dust suppression.
What sets this project apart is the engineering behind the system:
- Seawater is pumped 10 kilometres inland from the coast
- Remotely operated and fully automated, with real-time monitoring and control
- Adapts to tidal conditions, maintaining continuous water supply even at low tide
Built to perform in rugged, remote environments, the SWRO system delivers multiple benefits to the client:
- Fully automated, with remote monitoring & control
- Lasts longer as the system is built for harsh environments
- Less maintenance with less cleaning required
- Lower operating costs as high flow cartridge filters extend the service life
- Sustainable water recovery
At Centurion, we specialise in delivering complete, reliable water treatment solutions across APACs most challenging locations.
