SAFTER WATER TREATMENT: NEW ELECTROCHLORINATION SYSTEM FOR MAJOR MINER

WestWater, part of Centurion APAC, has been awarded a major contract to upgrade a Pilbara water treatment facility for a leading global mining company, replacing hazardous chemical dosing with an on-site electro-chlorination system.

WestWater (a Centurion APAC company) has been awarded a contract to upgrade a water treatment facility in the Pilbara region for a leading global mining company.

Instead of transporting and handling bulk liquid chlorine, the facility will move to an on-site Hyprolyser® iSEC 500 Electrochlorination system, which produces chlorine using only salt, water, and electricity.

The new system is designed with operators, efficiency, and sustainability in mind. Benefits include:

  • Safer operations – reduced handling, storage, and transport of hazardous chemicals
  • Automated efficiency – technology that adapts to changing conditions, keeps output steady during minor faults, and enables remote monitoring to cut downtime and workload
  • Consistent quality – fresh, stable disinfectant on demand
  • Lower running costs – uses inexpensive salt and power instead of bulk chemicals
  • More capacity – up to 12 kg/day of chlorine to meet increased water demand
  • Sustainability benefits – lower transport emissions, reduced chemical use, and long equipment life (15+ years).

The system will be fully containerised in a 40-foot unit, with delivery and commissioning scheduled for early 2026.

For our client, the result is a safer, more efficient, and more sustainable water treatment process that will support long-term operations in one of Australia’s key mining regions.
